Attend a trad session in one of the many traditional bars dotted throughout the island. Achill is famous for being the home of Ireland’s longest running traditional music school Scoil Acla. Islanders are always on hand, ready with a tune and a song.

Sample the delights of Achill Island’s local produce. Achill Island is home to artisan food producers such as Achill Mountain Lamb, Achill Smoked Salmon, Achill Oysters and Achill Island Sea Salt. Not only that but Achill is now home to its very own beer. Achill Brewery is located in Bunnacurry. An Achill Beer will be a welcome treat post-Quest.
- Discover Keem Bay
Keem Bay is renowned as one of Ireland’s most picturesque bays. Keem is one of only 15 Signature Discovery Points on the world famous Wild Atlantic Way. Keem is occasionally home to the 2nd largest mammal, the Basking Shark, it comes in to the clear fresh waters of Keem to feed. From Keem you can hike to the highest sea cliffs in Europe at Croghaun Mountain which rise to 688mts.
- Tick off the 5 Blue Flag Beaches and visit a totally new one!!
Achill Island is home to 5 Blue Flag beaches at Keem, Keel, Dooega, Dugort Silver Strand and Dugort Golden Strand. However, recently the beach at the Village of Dooagh has seen its long-lost beach returned. It was last being bathed on in the early 80’s when Dooagh Beach turned to a rocky shore with no strand appearing for decades. That is, until April 2017, when all of a sudden, the beach returned with a massive strand for all to enjoy.
